Horror Poster Common Conventions




  • These posters all look dark and mysterious.
  • All of the titles in these have a bit of red in them. 
  • Red could mean anger, fear, blood, etc.
  • There is a character centred right in the middle of the poster.
  • The character is either looking directly at you or facing away.
  • The titles are very obvious.
  • Slogans and tag lines.

Common colours:
  • Red - Red makes me think of blood, horror, death and roses.
  • Black - Black makes me think of death, darkness, night, thunder and funeral.
  • Grey - Grey makes me think of rainy days, dark clouds, being depressed and dullness.
  • White - clouds, light, ghost, weddings and stars.
Common images:
  • The characters tend to be right in the centre of the poster, very obvious to the people that they are important to the movie.
  • They all use pathetic fallacy to make it more mysterious and moody.
  • They use certain props to make it more scary.

Successful interview techniques. Listen. From the very beginning of the interview, your interviewer is giving you information, either directly or indirectly. If you are not hearing it, you are missing a major opportunity. Good communication skills include listening and letting the person know you heard what was said.
